This stunning 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Monospechio, finished in the iconic Rosso Corsa with a rare Crema leather interior and black leather dashboard, is one of the most sought-after variants of the Testarossa. While 80% of the 819 cars produced that year came with a brown dash, this particular model features the desirable black dash, making it a unique find.
The Monospecchio designation refers to the single mirror mounted on the A-pillar, a distinguishing feature of the earliest Testarossa models. Powered by a 4.9-litre flat-12 engine that initially delivered 385 horsepower, this car could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds—performance that still impresses today.
Acquired from its previous owner in Italy, this Testarossa has undergone an extensive and meticulous restoration and maintenance process. A recent $74,000 service included a complete engine-out overhaul, ensuring that it runs as it should. Work included replacing all gaskets, including the head gasket and gearbox reseal, new crankshaft bearings, fuel injectors, rebuilt calipers, new brake pads, and a full repaint of the engine block and valve covers. Further refinements included the replacement of the water pump seals, coolant hoses, and piston ring seals, as well as rebuilding the cylinder heads, cam covers, and fuel pump.
With a comprehensive service history and an unmistakable Ferrari presence, this Testarossa stands as a testament to Ferrari’s craftsmanship and performance.
